Masala Mutton Chops

One of those days when my husband decides to enter the kitchen and here comes the super mutton chops-you have to eat them to believe it:) You can adjust the spices depending on how spicy you want your dish. This recipe will serve 3-4 people.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 kg mutton chops
For the marinade:
  • 1/2 cup yoghurt
  • 3-4 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilly powder
  • 3 tablespoons fresh ginger garlic paste
  • 1 lemon freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons meat tenderizer or raw papaya paste
  • 1 tablespoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon meat masala ( available in any Indian grocery store)
  • 5-6 tablespoons ghee for cooking
Method:

  • Clean and wash the mutton chops well in warm water.
  • Marinate the chops overnight in the refrigerator with all the ingredients listed for the marinade.
  • Heat ghee in a non stick pan and add the marinated chops.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat turning the chops occasionally to ensure it is cooked from all sides.
  • Serve hot along with any bread or just enjoy it with mint chutney. You can squeeze some fresh lime juice over the chops-it gives an extra tang to it!
